i hope sumone might know sth... :/

i installed new live messenger 2009 otherwise my old one wouldnt sign in.. but when i entered all of my contacts were gone.

-My hotmail still has my old contacts and groups

- i deleted the caches in case it ws its fault but nothing happened
- when i add sumone the name wont be added in my contact list like before (i guess it waits till the person u add comes online,or because i "already" have this contact sumwhere , but i cannot know that for sure)

So if anyone has experienced the same just post sth if u know please

Maybe your MSN installation is bad.
I'm using this all-in-one messenger in Linux, and it works in Windows too:

It's an open source freeware replacement for MSN and other Windows-based messengers. You should try it, because it might fix your problem.

Hi Helena, I don't use Messenger personally, but it sounds like you're not the only one who's encountered that particular problem.

...the steps outline there look a bit unnerving, but if you follow them carefully it sounds like it should do the trick.

thats what i would do.. it helped me in the past one time.

start -> system config -> software -> delete windows live messenger

you can download 8.5 (if you want to have the old one; 9.0 does not work anymore) or you can install the latest one which i personally don't like. don't forget to install msn plus in the same way!
removing your messenger won't delete any of your contacts. they are not saved on your computer.

yep..i know i did put 8.5 already, i ll now install msn plus then...i also changed its compatibility to windows 2000 in case an upsate annoys me again..!!
